Regarding Our Current President

To the Church in America—
You’ve lived long enough to remember governmental leaders you agreed with and other leaders you didn’t. Some you approved and some who repulsed you.
Hard truth No. 1
All of those leaders were appointed by God. (Whether you liked them or not.)
Scripture:
“All of you must yield to the government rulers. No one rules unless God has given him the power to rule, and no one rules now without that power from God… The ruler is God’s servant to help you.” Romans 3: 1-7
Hard Truth No. 2
If you want to be judged harshly, judge your leaders harshly. Show your leaders mercy if you want to be shown mercy. (Whether you like them or not.)
Scripture:
“Judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment.” James 2:12-13
Hard Truth No. 3
If you want peace and flourishing in the city where you live, if you want freedom to worship God, pray for your leaders. (Whether you like them or not!)
Scripture:
“Ask God to help and bless them all, and tell God how thankful you are for each of them. Pray for kings and others in power, so we may live quiet and peaceful lives as we worship and honor God.” 1 Timothy 1:1-4
Regarding our current President:
I’ve been listening to people talking online…
Some say he’s the antichrist. Some say he’s a modern-day Jehu or Cyrus. Still others say he’s a trumpet to the nations. I camp with those who say he’s an imperfect man just like us, and he needs our prayers.
Stop praising him! Start praying for him!
Stop judging him! Start praying for him!
Renounce every curse you’ve spoken over your leadership. Ask forgiveness and mercy.
Repent of every misdirected hope you’ve put in a fallible man to save you.
Start praying for the President, his counsel, and our leadership in the House, the Senate, the Courts, every local position, and the School boards.
Trust in God! And pray for Trump!
Wake up, church! They missed Jesus as Messiah because they wanted a political leader. Now we have political readers reading us the Bible and begging us to pray to Jesus!
Don’t miss this moment!
Call to prayer:
- The President of the United States (whether you like him or not) has asked one thing of you. Give one hour of your week to pray for our nation. (Read the call to prayer here.)
Scriptural Promise and Warning:
- The President of the United States (whether you like him or not) has both encouraged us and warned us by reading 2 Chronicles 7, partnering with America Reads the Bible as leaders read the entirety of Scripture over us last week. “If my people… will humble themselves and pray… I will heal their land…” And he read on to explain what will happen to our nation if we do not humble ourselves and pray. (Listen to the reading here.)
Rededicating America to God:
- The President of the United States (whether you like him or not) is rededicating this nation to God on May 17, 2026. This is pivotal for the future of America and for other nations will watch and follow America’s leadership. (RSVP and participate here.)
Whether you like Trump’s personality and practices or not, pay attention when the President of the United States asks the Believers in America to pray!
But where do I start??
Start with the Minute to Win It! This is a WWII inspired prayer effort led by Give Him 15 asking each American to pray for America for ONE MINUTE each night at 9pm.
If you’re not ready to dedicate an hour each week, you can start with one minute each night. Do not estimate the power of simple prayer.
- Set your phone alarm right now for 9pm to pray.
- Print this free download to help you pray your Minute to Win It! Prayers for America. I’m keeping mine taped to my bathroom mirror and on my bedside table.
If you are ready to dedicate an hour to prayer each week and gather some friends (either in person or on zoom), read this invitation from the White House to join America Prays.
The White House offers a free prayer book of crucial prayers prayed over America since it’s founding from the first pilgrims to George Washington to Martin Luther King Jr. The “Prayers and Proclamations Throughout American History” booklet is a national treasure!
Til next time, toodle-loo and Peace be with you!
