When God Does a New Thing

New things can be exciting. But when you’ve had new after new after new, it can just be downright exhausting. That requires us to get to a place where we trust God’s promises more than we trust our emotions. The heart, mind, and begin to duke it out. When God does a new thing, faith and fear duke it out too.
The lie the enemy gets away with all too easily is that “It will always be the way it has been.” When we bite into that lie, it’s the quickest way to allow the joy of the new be stolen right from us.
When God says He has good things for us, we have to believe it. When God says, “Behold, I’m doing a new thing!” we can trust it’s going to be fully new. It won’t be the way it was. Even if the circumstance feels all too similar, if He says it will be different, it will be. It He says it will be good, it will be good.
When all of the relationships in the past ended badly, its easy for someone to believe the fears that they always will end badly in the future. Likewise, when all of the moves in the past have been traumatic, it takes a ton of faith to believe the next move could actually be fun! But that’s letting the past partner with the author of all lies write your story. I’d much rather have the Author of my Faith finish writing my story. Fears rise when God’s doing a new thing. There’s so many unknowns.
But we are not helpless to the fears and anxieties. We can take authority over the fear and command it to be silent and to flee. And we can hold on to the promises God has given us. We can hold on to those anchoring Words when our emotions and exhaustion want to take the wheel.
When God does a new thing, we can trust it will be different from the way it has been and we can trust it will be good.
Til next time… Toodle-loo, and Peace be with you.
