What’s the Tempo and Pace God has For You Today?

What if we listened to that quiet whisper that says, “Slow down. Just come to me. There’s no need to rush.”
When we spend the time in God’s presence, He often gives us the shortcut. His ways just come slower than we want them to have them.
When we choose to praise God over striving to bushwack our own path, things move. When we choose to rest in God, He strengthens us for the journey ahead better than if we just forged through. And if we arrive early to his promises, we usually botch it up worse. If we stay busy busy busy in our thoughts or actions during those slow times, we might not have the energy we need when it is time to run. I think of Elijah eating bread and taking naps before he went 40 days in the desert.
And what if we kept up when the tempo picked up pace? What if we ran when it was time to run instead of holding back in fear of the unknown? When we choose to obey, there’s an acceleration and a momentum that picks up in the spirit that is caught in the natural. It’s when you are doing things at a supernatural rate. It can feel surreal and the temptation is to stop and slow it all down. But if God says go, go. If He’s running, keep up under His wings and catch the tail wind to accelerate you. I think of Moses saying, “Be still God’s got this” in Ex 14:14, and the very next sentence is God saying essentially, “What are you talking about? It’s time to move!”
It’s like dancing. We want to be right in step with the Lord. Sometimes it’s a slow song. There’s intimacy and peace and strength restored in the slow songs. Sometimes, it’s a triple-step fast moving song. And the fast songs require 100% attentiveness, strength, and focus, but they bring a lot of joy.
A Prayer:
Lord, give us wisdom, focus, and self-control and trust to follow you. Helps us surrender to the slow songs and the fast ones. Sometimes, its’ go time and we want to slow down and other times it’s a slow song and we want to pick up the pace. That restlessness is costly.
Help us to just trust you with the direction and the timing. Help us to fully follow and surrender and trust. There’s great joy and peace promised to those who trust in you (and your timing and direction too!). Romans 15:13. So help us follow you, keep in step, and trust the tempo and pace you are setting for us.
In Jesus’ name,
amen
Til next time… Toodle-loo, and Peace be with you.
