Prayers and Blessings for Your Home:

Here are some of my favorite scriptures to pray for the safety of your home. I like to pray God’s Word because it’s so powerful! As you read the verses, practice turning the scripture promises into prayers and blessings over your home. I’ll give an example for the first scripture, and then, as you read the others, practice praying these scriptures.
Promise of Peaceful Safe Homes:
And the effect of righteousness will be peace,
and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever.
My people will abide in a peaceful habitation,
in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.
And it will hail when the forest falls down,
and the city will be utterly laid low.
Happy are you who sow beside all waters,
who let the feet of the ox and the donkey range free.
Now, let’s pray that scripture…
Father, thank you for granting us the righteousness of Christ through our faith in Him. Thank you that the reward for His righteousness is our peace, a still and quiet heart, and an ability to trust you. God increase our trust and peace today.
Lord, thank you for promising that we as your people will live in a peaceful home, a secure home and a quiet place to rest.
Fill us with joy and peace and happiness as we trust in you and follow your lead.
Surround our home with your protection and security.
Bless our home with safety and peace on our every side and borders.
And fill our home with a quiet security. Hide us in you, Lord.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
Your turn!
As you read the following scriptures, practice praying through them. Thanking God for His promises, declaring them over your life and home, and asking Him for his protection.
Promise to Dwell in God’s Protection:
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
Promise to Protect the Godly Widow’s Land:
The LORD tears down the house of the proud, but he protects the property of widows.
The LORD will tear down the house of the proud and arrogant (self-righteous), But He will establish and protect the boundaries [of the land] of the [godly] widow.
Promise for Safety in Your Home:
Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place—
the Most High, who is my refuge—
no evil shall be allowed to befall you,
no plague come near your tent.
A Promised Land and a Commandment to Love God and Remember His Commandments:
“Hear therefore, O Israel, and be careful to do [my commandments], that it may go well with you, and that you may multiply greatly, as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
“And when the Lord your God brings you into the land that he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you—with great and good cities that you did not build, and houses full of all good things that you did not fill, and cisterns that you did not dig, and vineyards and olive trees that you did not plant—and when you eat and are full, then take care lest you forget the Lord, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. It is the Lord your God you shall fear.
Promise for Safety and Sleep at Night:
There are many who say, “Who will show us some good?
Lift up the light of your face upon us, O Lord!”
You have put more joy in my heart
than they have when their grain and wine abound.
In peace I will both lie down and sleep;
for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.
A Scriptural Home Blessing:
Something I highly recommend is to write out your own prayer using these scriptures. This can become a home blessing for your family. You can frame it by the front or back door to remind you of the spiritual security system you have in the Lord God Almighty.
