Prayer Warrior, Suit Up For Battle

I’ve heard some devastating stories, and I’ve lived some too. There are times we need to rest and hide in God’s presence. And there are times we have to rise up in the authority of Christ and come against the demons and darkness that come after ourselves and our family. If we discern that this is our battle to fight and if we have [asked God for His strategy in battle], then it’s time to suit up and obey His plan for victory. Here are some effective strategies for times when we need to rise up as a prayer warrior and make sure we suit up for battle.
Mindset for battle
Every tribe and nation has their own ritual for going to battle. Some use war paint and headdress specifically for battle. Some use certain uniforms and special gear. We do this in the natural to prepare us for the right mindset for battle. But there are spiritual preparations we can make before going into battle as well.
I’m still learning and there’s surely more to discover. But here are some tried and true ways to start.
Suit up for battle
Anoint your head with oil.
- I like to anoint my kids and our home too.
- Anointing oil often symbolizes the power of Holy Spirit, the soul-strengthening oil of joy, and is used for healing and deliverance.
Ask God to fill you with His Holy Spirit.
- Paul, Peter, David, John, Jesus. We read about all of them being filled with Holy Spirit. But it’s for all disciples including you and me too. Acts 2 and Acts 4 are just a few examples.
Plead the blood of Jesus.
- Plead the blood of Jesus over you, top of your head to soles of your feet. And over your family too.
- Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:19-23
Put on the full armor of God.
- Pray through the armor of God, putting it on spiritually.
- Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints.” Ephesians 6:10-18
Praise God.
- Send praise out into the battle before you.
- “I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Psalm 34:1 - This has been my fight song lately: “The Mighty Name of Jesus.”
- “I will bless the Lord at all times;
Trust God.
- Trust God’s heart for you as you enter into spiritual battle. (And don’t forget to breathe.) 🙂
Til next time… Toodle-loo, and Peace be with you.
