God Remembers You (and Your Pain)

When we feel forgotten and grieving, it’s so important to know we are seen and loved by the Lord. To remember that God remembers us and is not dismissing or overlooking the pain we’ve walked through.
Today, please welcome my guest, Brooke Caldwell. Brooke is co-founder of The Glory House and Caldwell Ministries alongside her husband, Steven. She is truly a southern peach. She’s pure-hearted and on-fire for God. And I love her. As I read these words of hers, hot tears fell down my face. I pray her words bring as much healing to you as they brought to me. Enjoy.
God Remembers You
by Brooke Caldwell
God remembers you.
Today I came across Genesis 8:1, “God remembered Noah…” How strange. Did God forget Him if He somehow remembered Him?
This led me to Genesis 19:29 where again Holy Spirit records, “God remembered Abraham.”
This is now becoming quite interesting as I looked up two more passages on what God remembers: Exodus 2:24 says that God remembered His covenant and Psalm 105:42 says that God remembered His holy promises.
Why the word, “Remember?”
Jesus, Remembering
Years ago, after a complete hysterectomy, Steven and I began to remodel a room in our home that we had once designated for the nursery. I painted it a beautiful, light lavender purple.
As I was adjusting the new gray chair we had purchased for the room, I had a vision of Jesus standing in the doorway.
He was leaning against the door jam, overlooking the room we had literally just completed. I watched Him a moment, wondering if a question was appropriate since He looked so serious. But, knowing how deeply He loves, I knew He’d want me to engage in a conversation with Him.
“What are You doing Jesus?”
Do you want to know what His response was?
Still surveying the room, He said, “I’m reminding Myself of what the enemy stole from you.”
As I came across these passages this morning about God remembering, I had a flashbacked to that wonderful day where I encountered the healing presence of Jesus in that lavender room. And Holy Spirit began to reminded me of what deeper truths and healing this word, “Remember,” holds.
Seen by God
God doesn’t “remember” His promises to us or His covenant of blessing over us because He somehow forgot them or forgot us. No. That is impossible. Our Father could never forget us (Isa. 49:15).
But rather, God reminds Himself of His promises and His covenant because He wants it continually in front of Him: in His gaze, given His full attention – His eyes wide, focused, and open in our direction.
May you be reminded today that God remembers you.
God remembers the years that sadness and heartbreak has stolen from you.
He remembers how much you have sown into His kingdom with your finances and time.
The Lord remembers the prayers you’ve prayed for your spouse and your children.
God remembers
He remembers what you’ve sacrificed.
He remembers how you serve.
And he remembers how you love.
Redemption and Restoration
My friend, God will waste nothing, absolutely nothing if you will only give it to Him. Surrender your past, hand over your heartbreak, keep sowing your financial seed, and release forgiveness to those who’ve wronged you. He won’t pry anything out of our hands or out of our hearts. But rather, He waits patiently for us to pass it into His loving and capable hands so that He can restore It.
Not only will He heal the hurt and fill the void, He will also restore the years, multiply your seed, double your joy, and punish your true enemy for ever touching a child of the King. Be encouraged today dear friends and Praise God, for we have a Father who remembers.
A Prayer:
Will you pray this prayer with me?
“Father God, thank You for remembering me.
I place my hurt in Your hands. I release my seeds of tears, my seeds of finances, my seeds of prayers into Your loving care. And I forgive those who have hurt me – whether they have done it knowingly or unknowingly.
Restore to me Joy and Hope and Peace. I confess Jesus is my Lord. Please show me how to live this day forward for You. I give You my life. Amen”
