Get Yourself A Promise from God

One of the greatest perks of being in a relationship with the God who made you is the hope He gives us. When we get a glimmer of what’s to come, that hope helps us hold on through the hard times and it helps us hold out for brighter days. And that is exactly why you need to get yourself a promise from God!

Last week, a friend sent me a sermon from a pastor in South Africa who said, “If you don’t have a promise from God that you are holding on to, then get one!” There are tons in the Bible! Get yourself a promise, and hold on to it! And less than 24 hours later, I’m listening to a gal from Australia say the same thing, “If you don’t have a promise from God, get one!” And I didn’t really realize just how much holding on to promises from God has been a core staple in my life to keep me going through so much hardship and trauma and loss.

A promise can hold you together.

Truly, hope in promises from God has kept me alive in some really dark seasons. Hoping in God’s promises has held me together when I thought sorrow would split me wide open. Hoping in God’s promises has also put a smile on my face and gratitude in my heart knowing that if God says it, it is a done deal. It gives me confidence and peace in the long years of waiting for those promises to be fulfilled because I know that I know that God keeps His promises.

I’ve got a load of promises from God that I lean on every day, looking around every corner and expectant for the fulfilment. Those promises keep us going. So if you don’t have a promise from God, get one. If faith is the assurance of things we hope for, then ask the Lord for a promise you can hope in. Ask the Lord for something you can anchor your faith into, confident that God will bring it to pass. It’s not just ok to keep your hopes up, it’s good and true and Biblical. Keeping your hopes up in promises from God is a confidence that He will do it.
