A Prayer to Hear God’s Voice

The voice we long to hear the most is the Lord’s, yet when we often doubt if we’re hearing him or not. So here’s a prayer to hear God’s voice.

Prayer to Hear God’s Voice

Father God,

Thank you that you hear us when we cry out to you. Thank you that you are attentive to the voice of your children! Today, I’m asking that you help me be more attentive to your voice too.

Please give me ears to listen like one being taught. Help me hear your voice and then obey. Help me hear your voice when you sing over me (Zephaniah 3:17). Help me hear the mercy in your voice when my heart breaks. Help me hear the smile on your voice when you assure me. Help me hear your instructions for the day and give me the humility and courage to obey.

Thank you for the promise that your sheep hear your voice! Thank you that your voice is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Thank you for the comfort and gentleness in your voice.

Your voice is the one I long to hear above all the other voices and all the other noise. Help me tune my heart to hear your voice. Help me recognize when it’s you speaking and help me discern other voices that would try to lead me down the wrong path. I speak against doubt and confusion. Give me clarity to know when I’m hearing your voice and help me walk in confident trust and holy boldness to follow your voice.

I love you, Lord. My Father, my Comforter, and my Friend. I love the way you speak to me with such kindness and delight. Help me be more aware of your presence and your voice in my day.
