A Prayer for on the Way to School

The Car as a Prayer Closet
When my daughter was in preschool, we started a habit of saying a prayer together on the way to school. There were a few scriptures I held on to like anchors.
I asked for God to fill them with Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8) and to protect them under the blood of Jesus. I asked God to fill them with peace and joy as they trust Him (Romans 15:13). And I took refuge in knowing God has personally promised to teach my children what they need to learn (Isaiah 54:13).
We have continued this habit, now also on the way to sports practice or church or games or parties. Now, our driving is linked to a habit of praying. And I love it.
Driving is physically draining for me with all the health battles I have faced, so to have drive time also be prayer time has been a saving grace on many levels.
A Prayer for Going to School
Father God , thank you for a great day!
Thank you for the sunshine or the rain or the snow. Thank you for our school and our teachers.
We say a prayer of blessing over their school today. blessing over them and over the administration. Bless their marriages, children, finances, and homes. Give them wisdom and grace to teach our kids what is beautiful and true.
Protect them at school.
God, we ask you to send angels to guard each window and door. We speak life and peace over the children and authorities in this school. We pray for your Holy Spirit to fill the hallways. And we cover the building in the blood of Jesus.
Lord, I lift my kids to you today. Be a shield around them. Cover them in the blood of Jesus too. From the top of their heads to the soles of their feet. Protect their ears from what they hear and their eyes from what they see. Send angels to guard each of them as they walk the halls, sit in class, eat in the cafeteria and engage with other students.
Be their Teacher.
I thank you for your promises that “all of my children will be taught by the Lord and great will be their peace!” (Isaiah 54:13). Please fill each of my children with your peace. Anoint my children with power from the Holy Spirit.
Put a bubble of kindness around them today. Give them eyes to see anyone who needs a friend and courage to be that friend. Fill my children with your love. Please minister to and encourage my children today.
Give them favor with their teachers and help them work in a spirit of excellence. Help them grow in stature and wisdom.
Fill them with power and hope.
You are the God of Hope. Fill my children with all peace and joy as they trust in you, that they would be overflowing in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit today. (Romans 15:13). Fill my kids up with so much hope that they are overflowing hope on to other students. Fill the hallways with hope. We come against any spirit of death and we speak life into the students at this school.
And now I entrust them to your hands. May they be filled with the peace and the love and the joy of the Lord today!
In Jesus’s name,
amen
Til next time… Toodle-loo, and Peace be with you.
