A Prayer for Restoration
Restores us, Oh God! Restore us!
You have led us through the fire,
You protected us in the storm.
Our ankles are bruised from following you through the valley,
And we are sun scorched from following you in the desert.
But you never left our side, even in the shaking.
You let everything be shaken, all over again.
You sifted us like wheat,
And the pebbles and hard places rose to the surface.
In the shaking, you exposed fears, anxieties, strongholds.
Rocks we thought we fully conquered
Hard places we didn’t even know were there
They are all brought forth to the sun
And we turn from those old stones.
Your Word washes over us,
Soothing the wounds of your refining fire.
Wash away all the old ways.
Restore us to the new creation you spoke into being
The day we gave you our everything.
May the blood of the Lamb cleanse us.
May the joy of God strengthen us.
May the peace of God steady us.
Restore us, Oh God!
Renew the joy of our salvation,
And the innocence of childlike faith.
Restore security, laughter, and confidence in Christ.
In all the places you broke down our old man,
Now restore and build us up in you, our Cornerstone.
In Jesus’ name, amen
