Don’t Delay! A Prayer Against Spirit of Delay

We talk a lot about what I call “holy delays” around here. I love stories when it feels like we aren’t making the traction we need and then we later realize that God delayed us in order to set up a divine connection or to protect us or to set up a situation for us to see more of God’s glory. But there are times where God isn’t holding us back, but the enemy is. I’ve heard it’s called a spirit of delay. It always makes me think of Pharoah. But when God says go, it’s time to go. So let’s make sure we don’t delay and pray against any delay.
When it was time for God’s people to move to freedom, Pharoh tried to hold them back. In the end, we see God’s plan to set His people free worked, but it was not without trials and pereverance. Did Moses know it was going to take 10 plagues? From what I remember, God just gave him one at a time and sheesh… after 3 times going to Pharoh, I would’ve been feeling weary. Then 6 times, then 9 times…. I would have wondered when on earth is this going to be over?? Delay after delay after delay with no end in sight.
I’ve been hearing stories of people who God has called to move elsewhere without much notice all. Just up and move. And when God calls us to something, we can bank on the enemy’s goal to hinder, defeat, or delay those plans. We can rest assured God’s plan will prosper when we trust Him but it’s sure not an easy process.
So today, instead of analyze our delays, let’s just pray.
Father, when you say “Move forward!” in our lives like you did Exodus 14:15, we know we need to move forward! You see the bigger picture. You’re in charge of the direction and the timing. And we trust you. So as we try to move forward and follow your plan, we need your favor. In the name of Jesus, we cancel any plans of the enemy to delay or defeat us in following God’s voice. We command the spirit of delay and pharaoh to flee from us in Jesus name and we break off any curses or covenants that would hold us back from God’s plan for us. We declare that there will be no further delays in following God’s path. And we command all fear and anxiety to leave in Jesus name. We release blessing, Godspeed, divine order and timing. We ask you Lord to redeem anything stolen by delays and setbacks. You are more than able to make up for lost time and lost resources. We trust you. And we thank you for the peace and joy that overflows in our lives when we trust you. Thank you for making our paths straight. Please go ahead of us and clear every roadblock and obstacle. Thank you for the blessings as we trust in you.
In Jesus name, amen
Til next time… Toodle-loo, and Peace be with you.
