There’s a Grace For It

Have you ever surveyed all that someone else is called to do and wondered and marveled, “How do they do it??” Or have you ever surveyed all you are called to do and wondered, “How on earth am I going to do it??” When we are called to do the impossible, it’s tempting to talk ourselves out of obedience. But we can trust God will provide a grace for it.
Before we moved to Colorado, I didn’t have a clue what was in store for me. (Like losing my husband, moving multiple times while in shock, writing in the middle of suffering, finding schools and church for my family alone, and given a ministry for the brokenhearted.)
But what I did see ahead of me before moving to Colorado felt daunting enough. I sat down with our preacher’s wife, and I asked her how is someone supposed to be a wife, a mom, do all the things, and lead ministry?
Her response was simple, but it’s stuck with me all these years. She smiled and said calmly, “There’s a grace for it.”
That puzzled me at the time, but I’ve seen it proven time and time again since then.
There’s a Grace for It
If God’s calling you to step into something wild or uknown or seemlingly superhuman— walk in faith. Because there’s a grace for it.
It’s by grace through faith you are saved. They go hand in hand. So walk in faith fueled by God’s grace. Romans 5 also shows us the connection between grace and faith:
By faith we have been made acceptable to God. And now, thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ, we have peace with God. Christ has also introduced us to God’s gift of undeserved grace on which we now take our stand. So we are happy, as we look forward to sharing in the glory of God.
So how do we keep emotionally and physically showing up and pouring out year after year? There’s a grace for it.
How do we keep our hearts tender after trauma and betrayal? There’s a grace for it.
How do we keep serving and blessing and helping? There’s a grace for it.
Do not let fear, intimidation, or your own calculations hinder you from your calling. In Jesus’ name, by faith, there’s a grace for parting seas, raising the dead, calming the storms, making disciples, and baptizing nations.
Mission Possible
What are you called to do that feels impossible?
Name that calling today. It might be something the Lord has only shared with you in whispers and you might be doubting you heard right or doubting you can do it. Have the courage today to name the next step God has called you to take.
And then begin to apply your faith to that. Begin to pray into it. While you work towards it, worship the Lord, pray in your spirit, keep attentive for the whispers of God, and keep a grateful heart. These things will strengthen you for the journey.
And trust. Deeply trust that God will uphold His end of it.
If the Lord has called you to it, He will 1000% give you the grace you need to do it!
Til next time… Toodle-loo, and Peace be with you.
