Quietness and Confidence Forever

In the throes of a sudden and traumatic life change, I had just powered their another day. Grace and prayer was my only sustenance. I’m sure you can recall a few days like that in your own life.
Exhausted, I laid into bed after a superhuman type of day, the kind only Holy Spirit can accomplish through a weak and broken vessel. We were in the thick of a household move and all the extra stress that adds to a person. Moving is the second highest stressor, a ways under death of spouse. I was going through both.
My eyes fell heavy as my head on my pillow and I hear a whisper in my soul, “Isaiah 32.”
When you know God has something for you, but you’re dead tired, it’s a real choice. Do we just go to sleep or do we press in.
True rest is found in the presence of Jesus. This I know. Years, decades of insomnia taught me that the hard way. So I turned to Him, and His Words from that one night sustained me for the entire move.
He wanted to bring me into a peaceful dwelling place. A promise I discovered at the end of my rope ended up becoming the very rope I hung on to to get through that turbulent season.
The fortress will be abandoned, the noisy city deserted;citadel and watchtower will become a wasteland forever, the delight of donkeys, a pasture for flocks,15 till the Spirit is poured on us from on high, and the desert becomes a fertile field, and the fertile field seems like a forest.16 The Lord’s justice will dwell in the desert, his righteousness live in the fertile field.17 The fruit of that righteousness will be peace; its effect will be quietness and confidence forever.18 My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.19 Though hail flattens the forest and the city is leveled completely,20 how blessed you will be, sowing your seed by every stream, and letting your cattle and donkeys range free.
Find your rest in Jesus today. Turn to Him and His Word when you’re at the end of your rope. You’ll find the very rope you need to hang on to.
Til next time… Toodle-loo, and Peace be with you.
