Generosity and Bottomless Fries

It’s easy to share when you have bottomless fries. We enjoyed a meal at Red Robin this week. Some of us got fries for our sides, others chose salad. I noticed how much more joyfully and happily my children and I shared when we knew the source was endless and abundant. Generosity comes easily when we know the fries are bottomless.
The Lord promises that “we lack no good thing.” And His provision for us is endless. If we truly believe this and grip ahold of that truth, it’s easy to give generously. Even when what we have to give in the natural looks like scarcity, we can still give out of generosity when we trust in God’s abundant provision for us.
You can’t out-give God.
Think of the widow giving her last two coins. She knew God would supply her every need. Think of the few loaves and fishes that God multiplied to feed thousands. When we give God our little, His economy multiplies back more provision than we ever imagined. I’ve heard it said, “We can never out-give God.” Our flesh wants to revolt against this. But what if we truly believed we have bottomless fries and can share freely and give in generosity?
You lack no good thing.
When we trust God’s children lack no good thing, when we trust He has more available for us than we can see in the natural… it becomes easier to give. When we truly grasp this, then we don’t have to compete with each other for a job position or a book deal. Because when we know with assurance that there’s always more room at God’s table, we can generously promote and encourage others. This also eliminates the source of feeling insecure or in competition with others.
When we know God can strengthen us by His Spirit, we don’t have to fear scarcity of too little hours of sleep. And when we know God’s forgiveness and mercy never ends for us, we can extend mercy and forgiveness to anyone and everyone whose ever harmed us. Fasting teaches us to trust that Holy Spirit can empower us through fasting, which makes us capable of giving away the last meal to someone else, even when the fries are not bottomless in the natural. So to speak.
Abundant generosity and bottomless fries.
It’s easy to give generously when you know your provision from God is abundant. When you trust you lack no good thing. When you have faith that God provides your every need. This applies to pretty much everything that needs to be given with generosity… time, money, talents, mercy, the last bite of saag paneer, or, of course, bottomless fries.
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!
Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!
Oh, fear the Lord, you his saints,
for those who fear him have no lack!
The young lions suffer want and hunger;
but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.
Til next time… Toodle-loo, and Peace be with you.
