How to Fight Spiritual Warfare (and Win!)

Now that’s a lofty title, and feels intimidating to write on to be honest. But I’ll tell you what. The minute we understand that our victories ride on God’s shoulders and not ours, it takes the pressure and fear off of you. There’s a safe refuge and hiding place in the spiritual realm in Christ Jesus. And I want to just share a few of the ways that I hide in Christ. A few ways I’ve come to experience how to win spiritual battles.
When oppression, opposition, and destruction come our way, there are some clear go-to’s that will hide us under the protective wings of God. These things will hide us in Christ Jesus. How do we practically walk in Victory? Here are the ways I’ve learned to win spiritual battles. I’m sure there’s more. and there’s always more to learn in the Lord. But these have proven effective and faithful and true for generations from ancient Biblical times through today. So that tells me they are tried and tested.
Ways to Win Spiritual Battles:
- Speak God’s Word and Truth. God’s truth will set you free and reciting It Is Written in God’s Word is the example Jesus gave us in spiritual battles (Matthew 4).
- Pray and plead the blood of Jesus. That means to pray for God to cover and hide you and loved ones in the blood of Jesus. Because there’s power in the blood of Jesus and His blood speaks a higher word (Hebrews 12:18-29).
- Pray and anoint yourself and your children and your home with oil. (Mark 6:13, Luke 7:46, Hebrews 1:9, James 5:14). More on that [here] and [here].
- Worship and play worship music constantly. Praise is so powerful! (Testimonies here on a healing miracle I experienced, here from mother who saw victory for her daughter’s life through praise and prayer and reading the story of Judah (which means praise!) going ahead of them in battle, and here from an author friend who wrote a book on this called the Extraordinary Power of Praise.) Just soak in God’s presence and worship music.
- Pray to take authority in Christ over what’s after your family. “And Jesus said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven” (Luke 10:18-20).
- Pray in your spirit and in your understanding (1 Corinthians 14:13-15).
- Pray to hide yourself in Christ (Ephesians 2, Colossians 3). More on that [here].
- Pray with others in agreement. Reach out for prayer covering from others. Jesus promises that when two or more gather together and agree in prayer, 1. He will be there and 2. it will be done by His Father in heaven (Matthew 18:19-20).
- Forgive and break curses. [More on that here and here].
- Fast. When you fast in secret, God will answer (Matthew 6:16-18). Also, Jesus explains that some spiritual battles can only happen through fasting (Matthew 17:14-21).
Understanding the Battle
It’s so important to understand the truth and expose the myths if we ever want to learn how to fight spiritual battles. [Click here] to read more as we lay the foundations of what spiritual warfare is.
Here are some more insights from Peter on how to win your spiritual battles:
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.
1 Peter 5:6-9
I’m going to close by asking you to watch this video where THOUSANDS of people are getting healed, delivered, set free, and baptized. I cannot stop thinking about it and cannot stop being in awe of what God is doing in the world right now.
Til next time… Toodle-loo, and Peace be with you.
